Course Description:
This course is specifically formatted to benefit Law Enforcement Officers who are selected by their agency as Firearm Instructors seeking instructor certification. Training consists of 6 days of instruction that will prepare students to:
(a) Conduct Department Mandated Shooting Courses
(b) Develop Training Curriculum specific to increasing handgun shooting skills
(c) Diagnose Shooting Performance issues with their students
(d) Implement Training Concepts which translate to effective use of deadly force
Instruction will be uncomplicated, based on the realities of what is actually needed to win gunfights, and will employ a methodology of skill development not traditionally taught. Students who are obtaining their initial instructor certification, along with those who attend for updated certification training, will find the information presented to be realistic and effective in developing the shooting skills of their students.
Individuals attending this class will increase handgun shooting skills through the instruction on the fundamentals of accuracy to be followed with instruction on applying these fundamentals when both accuracy and time are of consequence. Student instructors will also learn methods to effectively transfer those skills to their own students. Those who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Training, those who demonstrate they can effectively instruct others utilizing the methods taught will receive a Handgun Instructor Certificate.

Student Will Supply: |
• Duty handgun with magazines (3 mags min)
• Duty belt and all related gear
• 2000 rounds duty gun training ammo
• 10 rounds department issued duty ammo
• 20 rounds dummy ammo
• Training plastic pistol (“red gun”)
• Stop Watch and/or Shot Timer
• Handheld flashlight (pistol mount in addition OK)
• Copy of Dept. Use of Force Policy
(to include Firearms Policies) |
• Cleaning Kit
• Patrol ballistic vest
• Eye and Ear protection
• Back-up Pistol (small revolver/auto)
• 100 rounds ammo for back-up pistol
• 100 rounds ammo for back-up pistol
• Weather/Range appropriate dress
• Knee Pads (Optional-Recommended)
• Copy of Dept. Qualification Course
